The Mosaic of Us

On the Tuesday before Thanksgiving, students and staff celebrated the diversity within our community during the annual Thankful for Our Diversity Day. This year's "mosaic" theme inspired a day of thoughtful activities. "We wish to pay tribute to the fact that none of us should be reduced to one thing, one language, one skin complexion, one religion, one citizenship," explained Cécilia Porter, LFC's DEI Manager. The celebration began with a community gathering in the atrium, including reminders of our school values of acceptance, respect and inclusion, and a sing-along that mashed up songs of different origins. Afterward, classes undertook projects around the theme, including artwork inspired by sign language and drawings that showcased student backgrounds and personalities. The unique beauty of our community shone strongly throughout the day.
