Nicolas Henry, LFC Artist in Residence 2016-17

Students participating in the Artist-in-Residence program.

The Artist in Residence for the 2016-17 school year was the photographer Nicolas Henry. Mr. Henry traveled the world for three years as a film director for the project “6 Billion Others” by Yann Arthus-Bertrand. He then pursued his personal work creating a series titled “The Playhouses of our Grand-Parents” combining installations and photographic portraits of ancestors around the world.

Throughout the month of November 2016, the Lycée had the honor of hosting artist Nicolas Henry, as our 2016 artist in residence. While in residence at the Lycée, Henry’s goal was to create a monumental photographic work that would theatrically stage the personal and collective stories of our community in order to capture its beauty and its essence.

For the final masterpiece, “Tikihawa's Chandelier” Nicolas Henry married his work in the South side of Chicago with his work with our students here at the Lycée. It is a great honor for the school to have the opportunity to exhibit the work of Nicolas Henry and a joy for the students to be part of the creation of such a moving work of art.
