Introduction to Molecular Biology in 10th and 12th Grade
Recently, two high school classes took part in molecular biology experiments as part of their SVT (sciences de la vie et de la Terre) coursework. While 10th-grade students extracted DNA from bananas using a modeling software, 12th-grade SVT specialty students conducted a DNA electrophoresis using micropipettes and centrifuge. These experiments helped familiarize them with research techniques used in professional laboratories, as well as discover the importance of DNA analysis in procedures such as paternity tests or police investigations. Formative activities to prepare students for their future scientific studies, which they executed brilliantly!
