History, Music, Ghosts and Gators: an Unforgettable Senior Trip to New Orleans

Five photos from the 2025 Senior Trip to New Orleans

At the LFC, school trips provide students with unique opportunities to learn, explore and build connections – and the eagerly anticipated Senior Trip was no exception! Recently, 12th-graders enjoyed a four-day trip to New Orleans, where they explored the city through music, cuisine and history. What a fun way to build friendships among fellow classmates!

Their visit included numerous entertaining and enriching cultural activities, including: a concert at the historic Preservation Hall; a ghost tour of “haunted” landmarks in the historic district, complete with views of the unique, colorful architecture; and finally, a tour of the former sugar plantation “Laura Plantation” – which made a lasting impression on students and educated them slavery’s ongoing repercussions.

A boat outing brought them into the Bayou swamps, where students had unexpected encounters with alligators and baby boars! They also enjoyed the breathtaking views of the region’s lush, tropical marshland.

Finally, the seniors took part in an excellent cooking class, where they learned to prepare local specialities such as gumbo, jambalaya and fritters. The excursion ended with students sampling their work, and sharing some of the delicious creations with their chaperones!

A magical, exotic trip complete with opportunities to expand their global outlook, step foot into the world, and make memories to last a lifetime.
