First-ever AEFE Basketball Tournament Champions!

A recap of the AEFE Basketball Tournament

What do you get when you bring together 17 Lycées, 29 middle school teams and 320 participants for the biggest basketball tournament in the AEFE-UNSS league? Three days of intense competition, incredible sportsmanship and… a North American championship title for our students!

For the third year in a row, the LFC was proud to host this AEFE basketball tournament for middle-school students from across North America. The tournament–which is the biggest event in our zone–welcomed 16 fellow French schools and brought together 29 teams of middle-schoolers for a total of 320 participants! From March 11 to 13, four Flames teams (two girls’ and two boys’ teams) competed fiercely.

Four young reporters from the Lycée Français Charles de Gaulle also provided extraordinary media coverage over the course of the three-day competition–showcasing the intense competition and camaraderie.

Our Varsity boys team were the only ones to make it to the final, beating the Lycée Français de San Francisco 19-17 in a tight match. They were named the North American basketball champions for the first time in Flames history! An unforgettable victory.

On the final night, the four finalists had the exciting opportunity to play on the Bulls’ court at the United Center–taking the floor just before Chicago’s game against the Brooklyn Nets. An experience our students will never forget!
