Eleventh-grade BFI Students Make History

Photos from the 2024-2025 LFC French Presidential Election

Before winter break, students in 11th-grade BFI brought their history lessons to life as they reenacted the French Presidential Election of 1848. Dividing into groups to represent each of the six candidates, students created posters, campaign speeches and dressed in 19th-century “garbs” to sway the outcome of the election – which was the first and only of this time period to be based on popular vote. Congratulations to their new French Second Republic President, Alphonse de Lamartine, who narrowly defeated the other five candidates with his successful campaign in this election, if not in real life.
