School Trips and Exchanges

High school students going on a weekend trip

Locally Grounded, Globally Inspired.

Increasing confidence, independence and awareness.

Each year, the LFC organizes group learning experiences for students away from the Chicago campus. Traveling both in the United States and abroad, each trip brings new opportunities for students to build independence, cross-cultural understanding, and establish life-long friendships.

From sleepaway camps in second grade to selective study abroad programs in high school, these trips and exchanges empower students to reach their full potential as multilingual and multicultural global citizens.

Where Education Meets International Opportunity.

The LFC proposes numerous opportunities for students to discover other cultures and to engage in international dialogue.

These programs are opportunities to create a more diverse high school environment and expand cross-cultural understanding, as well as to establish life-long friendships. It is also an opportunity to empower high school students to reach their full potential as multilingual and multicultural global citizens.

LFC students have studied in or taken class trips in Argentina, France, Germany, Spain, China and more, and LFC families have hosted international students from many of those same countries.

Diego Garcia-Bodu, LFC Host Student

At LFC, I met many wonderful people, other foreign students...but also a large number of attentive teachers. As part of the Flames soccer team, I also discovered wonderful values, some of the greatest assets of this institution. LFC has been the most enriching experience of my life, and I recommend that everyone spend a year abroad in this wonderful city and within this community. Today, my time at LFC continues to impact my life and the development of my social and professional career.

Saoussen Brutus-Mokrani, Class of 2025

My time at the LFC was one of the most formative experiences of my life. Arriving in Chicago was challenging—I barely spoke English and felt far from home—but I quickly found support from my teachers, classmates, and host family. I felt truly welcomed, which showed me how generous and vibrant the LFC community is. Over time, I gained confidence and discovered a real sense of belonging. The program not only strengthened my language skills but also gave me independence, self-confidence, and lifelong friendships. Most importantly, it inspired my interest in cultural exchange and international dialogue, which ultimately led me to join the Europe-America program at Sciences Po.
