Transportation & Parking

The Lycée does not offer bus service. However, the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) offers discounted fares to students who travel to and from our campuses via public transportation, and the Illinois State Board of Education provides a state transportation reimbursement program.

Parents who walk or drive their children to and from school must adhere to the school's pick-up and drop-off procedures, designed to make the process safe and efficient.

Main Campus Procedures

1. There are three zones for pick-up and drop-off. They are as follows:

  • Zone 1: Middle of the West building for 1st and 2nd graders
  • Zone 2: Blue door for all kindergarten students and 3rd, 4th and 5th graders
  • Zone 3: Marine Drive for 6th through 9th graders (middle school)

Parents must pick-up or drop-off their children at the appropriate zones. Parents with children in multiple levels must make multiple stops. Middle School parents only may bypass the parking lot and go directly to the Marine Drive entrance. Children must be ready to go at the drop-off zone in order to keep the process quick and orderly.

2. Facilitators in each zone open the car doors and assist students into the building. Parents cannot get out of their cars except in the case of an emergency. Drivers getting out of their cars greatly reduces the efficiency of the system, creating a backlog in the parking lot and endangering the safety of the students.

3. Parents are not permitted to park in the lot during pick-up and drop-off times. Any parent who has an appointment in the school during pick-up or drop-off time must find parking outside the main lot.

4. NO CHILD WILL BE ALLOWED TO LEAVE ON FOOT VIA THE PARKING LOT at pick-up and drop-off time, even if accompanied by an adult. Parents who come on foot to pick-up their children must go to the Marine Drive entrance (Zone 3), where their children will be waiting within the school grounds. Parents are not allowed to park on Marine Drive (even using flashers).

Public Transportation

Refillable CTA student discounted passes are available upon request. To get one, please ask the Lycée Office at the Main Campus or the High School Coordinator at the National Louis University Campus.

Illinois State Transportation Reimbursement Program:

Because free transportation to and from the Lycée is not available, parents or legal guardians who provide transportation for their children by their own means may be eligible to receive a subsidy from the State of Illinois to cover part of the transportation cost they incur––whether they use public transportation, a personal vehicle or other means.

To qualify, students must reside at least 1.5 miles away from the school or justify that transportation is required, due to a serious safety hazard as defined and approved by the Illinois Department of Transportation. The school forwards a memorandum to all Lycée families with detailed guidelines published by the Illinois State Board of Education in November of each school year. Qualifying families are invited to fill out a claim form that the school sends out in the spring and must return it to the office by the end of the school year. All claims are then electronically transmitted to ISBE by a school administrator.

Typically, families can expect to receive their reimbursement check at their home address by the beginning of the following December.
