Student Government

From elementary through high school, our students have the opportunity to have a voice in the school community and play an active role in their class life through student government.

Elementary School Institutional Pedagogy

Each class, from 1st to 5th grade, elects two class delegates and holds class council meetings on a regular basis

Class Councils:
During these class councils, which last 30 minutes, the teacher's role is largely that of observer. These meetings are led by the students. Students take turns being the President and the Secretary. Class matters, problems and proposals are discussed and resolved democratically.

Delegate Council:
The elected class delegates sit on the Elementary School Council with the elementary school director who is secretary and observer. A council president is elected for each monthly meeting. Elementary school matters, problems and proposals are discussed and resolved democratically.

Secondary School Student Councils

The Middle School Student Council is made up of elected representatives from grades 6 through 9. The Student Council also runs the student store, plans school dances, organizes and an end-of-the-year talent show, and helps raise money and collect food for less privileged individuals in the Chicago community.

The High School Student Council is made up of elected representatives from grades 10 through 12. These representatives are consulted regarding matters of student life in the high school. The High School Student Council can also plan different events and outings for the students.

The presidents of these two groups attend School Advisory Committee meetings.

Each Middle School and High School class elects two delegates, who participate in end-of-term meetings with faculty and act as liaisons between the faculty, the administration and their classmates.
