Model UN
In 2006, we began offering a Model United Nations program to our 10th through 12th Graders. Model UN is a simulation of the United Nations in which participants are given a forum to discuss global concerns in a context that closely parallels the “real world.” Secondary school and college students, and faculty from all over the world are brought together to engage in lively discussions and substantive debates in their respective committees, assuming the positions of various Member States on critical issues of our times, addressing regional conflicts, peacekeeping, human rights, women and children, economic and social development, and the environment. This educational experience encourages the development of skills useful throughout their lives, such as research, writing, public speaking, problem solving, consensus building, conflict resolution, and compromise and cooperation. Model UN sessions in Chicago are held at locations such as Northwestern University and University of Chicago. |
