Library
Located on the Lycée's main campus, our library offers over 5,000 books in French and English. Our video collection available for rent features more than 400 titles in both languages for children and adults. All students can enjoy a visit to the “Reading Room,” our fiction area. Pre-school and kindergarten classes are brought to the library for story hours and book browsing. During the school year, parents may check out books for their children. Beginning in 1st grade, students can check out books during class visits––weekly with French language teachers and bimonthly with English language teachers. Individual checkout is encouraged in the upper grades. Beginning in 3rd grade, students also have access to the non-fiction “Documentary Room” for research purposes. The library also organizes an annual subscription campaign for French books and magazines, our annual Book Fair with a wonderful selection of children books from France, and a used-book sale. (Books in English are offered for purchase through Scholastic catalogs provided by the English teachers approximately three times per year.) Monday through Thursday: 8:30 a.m to 5:00 p.m. Students are taught to treat the books with care, be quiet and calm, and respect the environment. Games, chatting and food are not permitted.
Checking Out Books, Magazines, CD-Roms & Videos:
Parents of elementary students are encouraged to acquaint themselves with their children's library visit days, to check return dates and help them with their “management” of library resources.
Returns and Late Fees:
Lost or damaged books: Our library welcomes all book donations and uses them in a variety of ways. Some donated books are integrated into the library, while others (usually duplicates and highly specialized titles) are put into English language classrooms for silent reading. Some are incorporated into our annual used-book sale. |
Parent Volunteers The library is always in need of parent volunteers. Interested parents may email the librarian or call 773.665.0066 (ext.21).
