Environmental Awareness
As part of our mission to prepare students to become responsible global citizens, we stress environmental awareness and encourage students to “Think Globally, Act Locally.” Our goal is to educate students to be aware of how their behavior and decisions impact the environment, now and in the future. Each year, we teach the students to cut down on waste by reducing, reusing and recycling. Our teachers seize every opportunity to discuss what items can be recycled, what these items are made of, and which ones are harmful to the environment. At all class levels, we discuss the importance not only of controlling pollution, but also of preserving the earth's natural resources. As a school, we have enormously reduced our waste by reusing and recycling paper, recycling aluminum and plastic, purchasing paper made from post-consumer material, and communicating as much as we can electronically. We also promote the use of reusable plates, cups and silverware during lunchtime. We think it is very important to instill a higher level of awareness and responsibility towards the environment, which is inseparable from the future of our children. |
