Language Immersion Days Camps

June 24-August 2 & August 19-23

Run by experienced native teachers, our World Camp is built on decades of academic excellence and expertise in developing effective language immersion programs. Campers experience the culture and advance their language skills through activities such as singing, cooking, arts and science projects, dance and theater, animated movie making, and more. Our World Camp offers camps run by lycee teachers in French and English. We have also formed partnerships with other schools and organizations to offer camps in Arabic, German and Mandarin Chinese.
 

FRENCH CAMPS

Camp Bienvenue (Age 3): Run by our own maternelles teachers, this camp offers a ratio of one adult for 4 students. It is the perfect introduction to school for future lycee students entering in pre-k. It is the perfect camp to get ready, meet with teachers, get comfortable with classrooms and hallways, and make new friends. Six one-week sessions are offered. Minimum of two to three weeks is advised. One group of 12 students only. Limited vailabilities.

Camp Découvertes (Age 4-5): Run by experienced lycee teachers and other native speakers, this camp includes one-weekly field trip every Tuesday and one weekly outing to the beach.  This camp offers a ratio of one adult for 5 students (1 for 4 on field trip days). Students are divided by age and by level of language, so that we can form homogeneous groups that include students of various language levels. Arts and crafts, games, outings, cooking, in-school shows, music and french songs with Madame Julie (3 times a week). Three two-weeks sessions; 3 to 4 groups of 10 to 15 students. Lunch is included.
Camp Les explorateurs (Age 6-8): Run by experienced lycee teachers and other native speakers, this very active camp includes one-weekly field trip every Tuesday and one weekly outing to the beach.  This camp offers a ratio of one adult for 5 students. A specific curriculum is being prepared that allows students of all levels of languages to equally benefit from the camp. Sports, games, outings, crafts, and many more activities will be offered. Three two-weeks sessions; 2 to 3 groups of 10 to 15 students. Lunch is included.
Camp Les aventuriers (Age 9-12): Run by experienced lycee teachers and other native speakers, this very active camp will include weekly field trips and outings to the beach. This pre-teen camp will be based on our pre-teens interest, from mythology to modern life, from arts to sports, literature, or cinema. There will be plenty to do, and all in French. Three two-weeks sessions; 1 to 2 groups of 12-16 students. Lunch is included.
Back to French pour les tout-petits (Age 4-5, August 19-23): After weeks or months away from using the language, this camp run by lycee teachers is a good opportunity to get ready for school. Field trips and fun activities throughout the weekOne field trip will be organized every week. Ratio of 1 adult for 4 students; 2-3 groups of 12-15 students.
Back to French – City Discovery (Age 6-10, August 19-23): After weeks away from school, reconnect with your inner French in this camp that will take you throughout the city of Chicago. A fun way to get back to using the language;  Ratio of 1 adult for 5 students; 2-3 groups of 10-15 students.
 

ENGLISH BOOK CLUB CAMP (AGE 8-12)

This camp is for good English readers who have a passion for books and want to share it with others. Join Ms. Ryan and M. Kenney in this reading camp adventure that will include book reading time, conversations about books, crafts and plays, field trips and outings; One group of 8-12 students.
 

BEFORE AND AFTER CAMP OPTIONS AVAILABLE

Before-camp is available from 8:00am for a $30.00 weekly fee ($60.00 for two-weeks sessions).
After-camp is available from 3:00 to 5:30pm for a $60.00 weekly fee ($120.00 for two-weeks sessions).

 

TUESDAY FIELD TRIPS / BEACH days

From June 24 to August 2, all our campers will be participating every Tuesday in a field trip to a water park, a museum, a botanic garden, a zoo, the movies or another fun location. Beach days are also organized once a week, depending on weather conditions.

ORGANIC LUNCH

From June 24 to August 2, our campers eat with lunch boxes prepared by Green Monkey Catering, the company catering for our students during the school year. Specific orders are possible for students with allergies or dietary restrictions.  
For more details on the organization of our summer camp, a summer camp guide for parents is published in May. This document is updated in the weeks leading to summer. An Orientation meeting will take place June 1, 2013 at 10:00am at Lycee Francais de Chicago.
