The Parent Association of the Lycée Français (PA) seeks to create a community of families, forge ties between the French and American cultures, and contributes to the Lycée's vitality and reputation. In addition to organizing activities for the Lycée families, the PA aims to give parents the opportunity to play an active role in increasing the school's standing and visibility within the Chicago community. It also contributes to the quality of student life by raising funds to support and improve the school's daily activities.

The PA is a volunteer-run organization. Officers are elected at the end of each academic year, and Lycée parents are actively encouraged to participate in one of the many committees created to meet the objectives outlined above. Not only is volunteering an excellent way to become involved in school life, but it also allows parents to forge relationships throughout the school.

• Welcome Committee – Guylaine Herzig et Véronique MacDonald
  This committee helps new families adjust to our school and to life in Chicago. Everyone needs help with this transition and you can help by befriending new families, creating a welcome kit.
• School Directory Committee – Sharon Langshur
  This committee compiles and updates all the essential information, which is then published in an annual directory. Joining this committee is a great way to become familiar with the school!
• Lunchroom Committee – Berna Alp
  Committee members will coordinate the work of volunteer parents in the lunchroom, supervise the students and provide light clean-up help during the lunchtime period.
• Holiday Card Committee – Ann Thompson et Steffi Garrett
  This committee helps select some of the students’ artwork to be featured on our holiday cards and coordinates sales of the cards to the Lycée families and the community at large.
• Fall French Market – Lisa Veber et Rebecca Byrne
  New this year is the Fall French Market, it will be replacing the Holiday Market. The French Fall Market will take place this year October 18-19, at 613 W Bittersweet Pl. We will need as many parents and students as we can to help us set-up and assist in the Children’s Pavilion. Please contact and join us, so it will be a great success.
• Room Parent Committee - Lisa Johnson et Julie Bourke-Fabre
  This committee finds two room parents for each class, informs them of their duties and provides them with any necessary assistance. Room parents play an integral role in the classroom, organizing social events and class field trips.
• Landscape Committee – Stacey Lorin et Don Kania
  With or without a green thumb, this committee would welcome your assistance as it seeks to enhance the exterior grounds of the school.
• Soirée des Arts Committee – Hilary Pisor et Véronique Bushala
  This committee plans, coordinates and oversees our most formal fundraising event. Selecting a venue, preparing for both a silent and a live auction and drawing a large crowd keeps everyone busy!
• The Social Committee – Dina Delaurentis et David Marden
  This group organizes monthly coffee hours, the Welcome lunch in September, school picnics and other social events.
• Evening Series Committee – Ann Mendelson
  The evening series committee organizes throughout the year a couple of events for parents who can’t join the school activities on daytime.
• The Uniform Committee – Ferdinanda Marcic et Janet Meier
  This committee collects used uniforms generously provided by Lycée families and sells them at low prices during the monthly coffee hours and at other events.
• Chicago Discovery Committee –
  In this committee you have the chance to get to know Chicago by outings organized by parents once a month.

Become a Member

To cover the costs of the programs listed above, each Lycée family is asked to pay an annual fee of $45. Those families who have paid their annual dues receive a copy of the school directory. The fees can be paid by check or cash and can be left in the PA box in the school office.
