New to the School

The Lycée is thrilled to welcome you. More than anything else, we want to make your integration into our school and community as easy and enjoyable as possible. We recommend attending the General Information Meeting, typically held the day before school starts. Our Parent Association also provides a wealth of useful information and hosts special events for new families. If you choose to join our school, you will not only receive a helpful welcome packet, but also a mentor family that can answer questions and introduce you to other parents.

To download the Parent Association's "Bienvenue à Chicago" guidebook included in the welcome packet, click here.

Important Deadlines and Useful Information

Before school starts, you will need to return the following forms and documents to the office:

Lunches:
Students may bring their own lunches or sign up for our catered Hot Lunch Service. To learn more, visit our Lunch Program page.

Getting To and From School:
The Lycée does not offer bus service. Parents can walk or drive their children to the school, or students can travel via public transportation. Visit our Transportation and Parking page for details.

Textbooks:
With a few exceptions, school books used in our classes are loaned to students for the duration of the academic year.

School Supplies:
The list of necessary supplies for pre-school, kindergarten and elementary school is mailed out to the parents at the beginning of July. The Parent Association in collaboration with B&K Office and Art store have organized a school supply program that allows parents to purchase all of their child's school supplies for a one-time fee. For more information on participating in this program, please contact the school office.

Rules, Regulations and Dress Code:
Available on this site is a downloadable copy of our student handbook. It outlines our expectations for behavior and rules for dress. An outline is available on our Rules and Regulations page.

The Lycée works hard to encourage open communication among parents, students, faculty and staff. We have developed a number of tools to help acquaint you with the day-to-day workings of the school and student activities. Visit our Interactive Communication page to learn more.
