Governance

The Lycée Français de Chicago is governed by its Board of Trustees who serves as the steward of the school's educational mission and its financial health.

The Board's responsibility is to adopt a clear statement of the school's mission, vision and strategic goals and to establish long-term policies and plans accordingly in order to ensure the Lycée's long-term growth and success.

Implementation of the policies and plans established by the Board and day-to-day management of the Lycée, including the hiring of faculty and staff, classroom policies and curriculum, are the responsibility of the school principal accountable to the Board.

The Board of Trustees and school administration ensure that the concerns, values, and expectations of parents and other constituents are taken into consideration in all high-level decisions regarding the quality of education.

To this end, parent and teacher representatives of the School Advisory Committee, as well as members of the educational staff are regularly invited to board meetings. Through the president of the Parent Association, appointed as an ex-officio member of the Board, the Board also maintains a two-way communication with the parent community. In addition, the Lycée regularly evaluates the satisfaction of the community through school-wide surveys.
