Admissions Criteria
Be aware that the French and American systems use different criteria in evaluating applications.
US & Canadian System
Admission at top U.S. colleges is extremely competitive. Because Lycée students follow the French curriculum, their performance in all subjects throughout high school (9th though 12th grades) is important. Students applying to American universities will find that the unique nature of the French curriculum and their ability to speak multiple languages will give them an advantage in the application process.
French System
In the French system, on the other hand, although grades are important, a student’s choice of curriculum and performance on the Baccalaureate will ultimately determine where he or she can apply.
